The Advertising Club Bombay was recently rechristened as The Advertising Club, taking a national platform. The club has announced that Bipin Pandit, general manager, will be promoted as chief operating officer of the club.
The decision was announced at the first managing committee meeting of 2012. Pandit joined the Ad Club in 1998 as executive secretary. Until recently, he was general manger at the club.
A commerce graduate, Pandit started his career at the accounts department of The Baroda Rayon Corporation in 1981. After six years, he moved on to join Castrol India in 1987 as in-charge of the control section.
Ten years later, he shifted to become the executive secretary of the Ad Club.
Subsequent to the renaming of the club, Shashi Sinha, chief executive officer, Lodestar UM, continues to be its president, while Sunil Lulla, chief executive officer, Times TV Network exited from the committee. Lulla was elected as vice-president of the club in 2011.
Also, Ajay Kakar, chief marketing officer, Aditya Birla Group Financial Services is the vice-president. Kakar was the secretary in 2011. Pratap Bose, chief executive officer, DDB Mudra Group has replaced Kakar as secretary, while Sujoy Ghosh continues as joint secretary. DDB Mudra's Bose was elected treasurer in 2011.
Madhukar Sabnavis, vice-chairman, Ogilvy & Mather India is the treasurer for the year 2012-13.
The managing committee comprises other members such as Ajay Chandwani, non-executive director, Percept; N Rajaram, marketing chief, consumer business, Airtel; Punitha Arumugam, head, agency relationships, Google India; Sameer Sathpaty, executive vice-president and head, marketing, consumer product business, Marico; Sanjeev Bharghava, managing partner, JWT India; Sajan Raj Kurup, founder and creative partner, Creativeland Asia and Ajay Trigunayat, CEO, chief executive officer, English entertainment channels, Times Global TV.First Published : October 04, 2012
