GEC Watch: Chennai Express takes Zee to the top

The Dance India Dance magic starts even in its fourth season, with the debut episode garnering 6075 TVTs.

Zee's Chennai Express has definitely dropped it off to the peak in the Hindi GEC flock. The movie's premier on the channel helped it garner a total of 505442 GVTs in Week 43 of 2013. The channel has been slowly moving up the ladder and was at the second position last week with 409304 GVTs.

Apart from the movie, the channel's dance reality show, Dance India Dance, has also done well in inspite of the show being in fourth season. The debut episode on October 26 boosted the channel to the top.

Star Plus, hence, came down a notch with 492849 GVTs, down from last week's 517048 GVTs. In the week ended October 26, the channel could push five of its shows to the top ten list on the Hindi GECs.

Colors has stuck to its third position with 423584 GVTs, with just one show in the most watched list. The channel had garnered 384496 GVTs in Week 42.

Life OK, back at the fourth spot, has garnered 334635 GVTs, up from its previous week's ratings of 316904 GVTs. Meanwhile, SAB TV from MSM has acquired 331674 GVTs with its flagship show in the top ten shows' list on Hindi GECs. The family comedy entertainment channel was at 3191214 GVTs.

Sony, at No. 6, witnessed a rise in the ratings during the week - going up from 292327 GVTs in Week 42 to 281638 GVTs in the current week. STAR Utsav, sibling GEC of Star Plus, is next with 102235 GVTs, followed by Zee's new GEC Zee Anmol with 52731 GVTs. Sahara One garnered 36323 GVTs in Week 43.

Helping to push the channel up, Chennai Express' premier garnered 19541 TVTs for Zee TV. Diya Aur Baati Hum (Star Plus) stands second in the list of the 10 most-watched programmes, clocking TVTs of 10367, followed by Zee's historical shows, Jodha Akbar and SAB TV's flagship show, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, with 8299 and 8161 TVTs, respectively.

Meanwhile, Colors' Balika Vadhu has once again entered the Top 10 list. The show stands at No. 5 with 7735 TVTs in its kitty. The sixth, seventh and eighth most-watched programmes in the list are all Star Plus fiction shows - Saathiya Saath Nibhana with 7474 TVTs, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai with 7347 TVTs and Pyaar Ka Dard Hai with 7178 TVTs.

The last two in the list are the first episode of Zee TV's dance reality show, Dance India Dance and Star Plus' mythology Mahabharata with 6075 TVTs and 5530 TVTs, respectively.
