Saujanya Shrivastava appointed MakeMyTrip's CMO

He joins the online travel agent from Bharti AXA Life Insurance.

MakeMyTrip has appointed Saujanya Shrivastava as chief marketing officer. He will be responsible for leading marketing initiatives across the company's business lines and group entities. His key focus areas at MakeMyTrip will involve strengthening the brand's association with leisure travel, establishing leadership on the mobile platform and driving customer-engagement and loyalty.

Speaking on this development, Rajesh Magow, co-founder and CEO - India says, "Saujanya is a consummate marketing professional with proven domain expertise. Shrivastava comes with nearly two decades of extensive marketing experience in FMCG, E-commerce and financial services categories. He joins MakeMyTrip from Bharti AXA Life Insurance where he was the CMO. Prior to that, he led sales and marketing at FutureBazaar.com. He was also the custodian of PepsiCo's flagship brand "Pepsi" where he built youth-marketing platforms through associations with ICC, BCCI and sportsperson-endorsements, including the Blue Billion Cricket Campaign during the Champions Trophy in 2006 and the World Cup in 2007. He has also worked with Citibank and Cadbury India.

MakeMyTrip.com was launched in India in September 2005 as a travel website with real time booking for flights. Over time, it has evolved into a full-service portal extending its offerings to online hotel-reservations, holiday-package bookings, and rail as well as bus ticket bookings. The website claims to have an average of over 8.3 million unique visitors per month in fiscal year 2014.
