Social Cloud Ventures has launched the social awareness campaign #HawaBadlo urging citizens of Delhi-NCR to switch to environment-friendly habits in order to battle the pollution crisis.
Delhi being labelled the world's most-polluted city by the WHO set off alarm bells all over with various organisations rushing in to battle the pollution crisis. One such outfit is the Gurgaon-based start-up Social Cloud Ventures which launched the campaign #HawaBadlo or #ChangeTheAir urging citizens to switch to environment-friendly habits.
The campaign kick-started with the release of a video titled 'The Air Seller'. Intended to be a social experiment, the video captured the various emotions of citizens when they were asked to buy packaged fresh air being sold by Ajay Sherawat of MTV Roadies Season XI fame. The activity was carried out to give the citizens the feel of breathing in unpolluted air. The idea was to spread awareness about the deteriorating air quality in the National Capital Region and motivate people to inculcate air-friendly habits such as switching to CNG/electric vehicles, carpooling, and use of public transport.
In its first stage, the 'Hawa Badlo' movement intends to connect with the citizens of Delhi-NCR who are currently at a health risk due to rise of PM2.5 and other lethal pollutants in the air.
The video claims to have garnered four lakh views on Facebook and YouTube. With its popularity soaring, GAIL (India) decided to support and empower the idea and turn it into a national movement.
