The comedy series will be launched across Arré's digital platforms and YouTube, soon.
Arré, the digital media brand from UDigital, co-founded by Ronnie Screwvala, B Saikumar and Ajay Chacko, has announced the launch of its first sitcom I Don't Watch TV. The series is a wild comedy on the ever-evolving Indian TV Industry, its idiosyncrasies and its colourful inhabitants.
The series will feature actors such as Drashti Dhami, Karan Patel, Rithvik Dhanjani, Kritika Kamra and Karan Wahi in never-before seen avatars. The show has a humorous cameo by film critic Rajeev Masand. Mehta's close friend Alekh Sanghal plays his best pal in this series which features Ram Menon, and is directed by Ajay Singh.
The series will have two seasons initially. The first season comprises of five episodes and has already been shot and is ready for the launch. The second season will soon go under production.
Speaking about the new series, Mehta says, "We found a great synergy with the folks at Arré and their backing of disruptive ideas makes them a perfect platform for IDWT. The series is about truth meets part fiction meets part bizarre, which in essence is Indian television today. It has been our labour of love and we have been keen to tell this story for a long time as it is personal and quite intense in a lot of ways, and is presented in a humorous and edgy way."
Arré is an original content destination and storytelling platform across genres and formats.
