The past week saw a range of offers in the textiles and apparels segment. But, as usual, the week was dominated by promotions by the household durables manufacturers.

On to home durables. In Ahmedabad, a Kenwood XD-V323 music system came with seven VCDs. A half-hearted effort by the Japanese audio specialist to boost sales of a high end product. On buying a Videocon product and scratching the card that came with it, one got a gold coin, right from a 1-gm coin to a 100-gm one. On filling a contest-form, one became eligible to win from a plethora of prizes, that included a single prize worth Rs 1 crore, 10 prizes of Rs 5 lakh each, 50 prizes of Rs 1 lakh each, 100 units of 29 inch True Flat TVs worth Rs 40,000 each, and many more.

Into the kitchen. Buying a Sharp microwave oven in Mumbai, the buyer got a gift as well as microwave cooking lessons in the comfort of one's home.
