HCL Infinet has launched a horizontal portal, hclinfinet.com, which aims to provide a range of B2B and B2C services to its target audience. HCL Infinet is the new Internet services subsidiary of HCL Infosystems Ltd, India's premier technology integration company. HCL Infinet is looking to leverage the brick-and-mortar presence of its parent to become a dominant Internet service provider in the country.
Structured along the lines of most horizontal portals, hclinfinet.com has a spectrum of services to offer surfers. Besides news, the site offers information on art and culture, business and economy, computers, education, entertainment, technology, shopping etc. HCL Infinet has also tied up with select channel partners for specialized services. For instance, the online chat facility is powered by chat site talkcity.com, while international search engine Mamma.com provides the search facility in hclinfinet.
Capitalizing on the timing of its launch - which coincides with the Olympic Games - the site has one whole section dedicated to the Sydney Olympics, with subsections detailing medals tally, Olympic history, games schedules, results etc. Added to this is a champions' gallery that profiles select athletes who excel at Sydney.
HCL Infinet is setting up a state-of-the art ATM/ Frame-Relay IP-based network infrastructure across 42 cities in the country. The product portfolio of the company involves consumer Internet access, hosting and co-location services, virtual private networks, application services and e-commerce enabled B2B exchanges.
The company claims that the online content of the site is backed by the significant investments it has made in its networking, network management solutions and round-the-clock customer help desk.
