Amazon Echo soars past Pepsi’s record

The company has erected a massive structure in Times Square - the largest so far - in order to increase awareness for Amazon Music.

Seven-stories high, 22 feet across and more than seven tons in weight, Amazon Echo’s installation will dominate New York’s Times Square for three more days.

It is a demonstration of how out of home advertising can make its mark especially when you are in one of the most prominent advertising hubs in the world. The model of the Echo in Times Square is not interactive but the lights make it look functional. It is attached to a billboard that extols the streaming capacities of Amazon Music.

The wireless Echo speaker and other Alexa devices “let you instantly connect to Alexa to play music, control your smart home, get information, news, weather, and more using just your voice”. Alexa is Amazon’s voice-control system.

According to Amazon’s agency partners, Outfront, Rapport and Traction 3D, the installation also breaks Pepsi’s nearly 75-year-old record for the largest ad built in Times Square.
