Krishnan will continue as an advisor for sports, fashion, and entertainment with IMG
Ravi Krishnan, MD, IMG/TWI South Asia and senior vice-president, IMG, has finally decided to move on after spending close to 11 years with the group.
In an official communiqué, Krishnan says his next destination is a multi-million dollar real estate group, where he will be the head of the Indian operations. He will spearhead the group of investors that is setting up an India-focused fund that will initially commit US$100 million for investment in the real estate sector.
However, Krishnan is not completely disassociating with IMG/TWI as of now. He will continue his relationship with the company as an advisor for sports, fashion and entertainment.
In the communiqué, Andrew Wildblood, senior corporate director, IMG India, says, “We have high regards for the efforts Ravi (Krishnan) has put into taking IMG forward. We wish him all the best in his new endeavour and are thankful for his agreement to advice us in the key areas.”
Krishnan, in the official note, says, “My best achievement was to take the business to new heights in India's most aggressive and growing sector of economy. I hope that my new venture in the real estate group will be equally challenging.”
At IMG, Krishnan created milestones for the group such as Chennai Open, the Lakme India Fashion Week and the then Lakme Fashion Week, besides providing some important marketing solutions and sponsorships such as the Samsung Cup deal for the Indo-Pak series, the Sahara Cup, BILT Skins with Vijay Singh, Scorpio Speedster, the ABN AMRO Tennis Challenge, and the Indian Open.
Krishnan has been associated with the group since 1995, when a four-member team was set up in India to spearhead IMG’s operations. At 27, he began his new career by selling hospitality for the Cricket World Cup 1996.
After joining IMG, Krishnan moved rapidly up the ranks. Beyond his geographic responsibility, he also had the divisional responsibility for developing IMG’s fashion business throughout Asia Pacific.
