RK Swamy/BBDO’s Arjun Mukherjee joins Rediffusion as V-P, Delhi

Mukherjee will look after the non-Airtel businesses

Arjun Mukherjee, general manager, RK Swamy/BBDO has put in his papers after working there for six years. He has joined Rediffusion DY&R, Delhi, as vice-president. He replaces Gautam Dutta, who has joined PVR Cinemas as chief marketing officer.

Mukherjee will report to Santosh Sood, COO, Rediffusion DY&R, Delhi. Confirming his appointment to agencyfaqs!, Mukherjee says, “ I switched to Rediff mainly because I wanted a larger platform to work upon. My functions will remain almost similar to what I was doing at RK Swamy/BBDO, but now it is more about new challenges and new and bigger brands.”

At Rediff, Mukherjee’s responsibility will be to look after the non-Airtel businesses. He will also focus on getting new businesses for the agency.

Mukherjee comes into Rediff with 14 years of work experience. He started his career with Grey Worldwide (then Trikaya Grey), Kolkata, where he worked for four years. After spending a year at Lowe (then Lintas), Kolkata, he went on to work with RK Swamy/BBDO, Delhi, where he spent three years.

After brief stints with Triton Communications, Delhi, and Publicis India, Delhi, Mukherjee returned to RK Swamy/BBDO. He worked there for three years, handling the Delhi operations.

Across the span of his career, Mukherjee has worked on brands like Dunlop Tyres, ICI Paints, Apollo Tyres, Hewlett Packard, Oral-B Toothbrushes, Living Media Network’s magazines, ‘Cosmopolitan’ and ‘India Today Plus’, Sony, Zee TV, Adidas, Blackberry Apparels, Ministry of Tourism—Incredible India and ONGC. He has looked after the advertising for Samsung’s range of colour televisions, washing machines, microwave ovens and air conditioners. Besides, Mukherjee has also played a key role in the re-branding of Indian Airlines as Indian while he was at RK Swamy/BBDO.

Sood says, “Mukherjee brings with him hope and a relative amount of experience. We have big expectations from him.”

Mukherjee keeps the re-launch of Adidas during his career at RK Swamy/BBDO close to his heart. A passionate sportsman himself, Mukherjee was happy to work with Sachin Tendulkar. He recollects working on some good advertising for the brand, which won a number of awards. “Working on the brand was one of the highest points of my career,” reveals Mukherjee.
