Mudra’s Mahesh Gharat joins O&M as creative director

Mahesh Gharat is taking the position of Suresh Babu, who has been elevated to the designation of senior creative director for O&M’s Chennai branch

Mudra’s creative director, Mahesh Gharat, will be joining O&M, Mumbai, as the creative director on accounts such as Cadbury’s, Asian Paints and Madhya Pradesh Tourism, on April 9 this year. He is taking the position of Suresh Babu, who has been elevated as senior creative director for O&M’s Chennai branch. In Chennai, Babu will work on brands such as Parryware, KevinCare, Nalli, Nippo Batteries and Hutch.

The development was confirmed by Abhijit Avasthi, group creative director, O&M. Avasthi says, “Mahesh has a substantial amount of experience in the art field in advertising. Recently, he has done a considerable amount of work on Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) with Mudra. Already having an understanding and good knowledge of tourism advertising, he will make significant contributions to O&M’s Madhya Pradesh Tourism business and its other accounts.”

Gharat holds a diploma in applied arts from Bandra School of Arts and has about 13 years of experience in advertising. He started his career in 1994 with Lintas. After a year, he moved to SSC&B and worked there for five years. His next move was to Mudra and he has been associated with the organisation for more than eight years now. Some of the brands he has worked on recently include MTDC, SBI Debit Card and Olympus.

The campaign created by him on SBI Debit card won the silver New York World medal in 2006 and also appeared in ‘The Work ’06’ and ‘Luzer’s Archive’ (June 2006). ‘The Work ’06’ also featured his campaign on Relpipe, a division of Reliance Industries that manufactures pipes.
