Somenath Chakraborty moves out from Lowe; joins TBWA as CD

Chakraborty has an experience of around 10 years in the advertising industry to his credit

Somenath Chakraborty (Som), creative, Lowe has quit to join TBWA as creative director. Currently he is serving his notice period at Lowe, and will join TBWA on June 18.

Confirming the development to agencyfaqs!, Som says, “TBWA is a great opportunity, which would definitely help me augment my career, and which I did not want to miss.”

Som has an experience of around 10 years in the advertising industry. A science graduate, he went onto pursue his first love - art. In 1996, after completing his BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts), he joined a local agency in Kolkata, Nexus. He worked there for approximately two and a half years.

In 1999, he went back to studying and completed his masters degree in fine arts for a year. In 2000, SSC&B Lintas happened, where he spent two years. He went on to join Mudra in 2002, where he was there till 2004. Since 2004 till date, he has been with Lowe.

In his career span, Som has worked on brands such as Hyundai Santro and Sonata, Bank of Muscat, Grand Hyatt, Samsung, Yamaha, Dabur, Hindustan Motor’s Lancer, LG, Maruti and Dish TV.

Som has won awards at D&AD, Campaign Brief Asia and London International Awards. His work has also featured amongst the finalists at the Cannes.
