Meera’s day out on the ADC jury

Meera Sharath Chandra of Mudra Marketing Services has been invited to be a jury member for the Art Directors Club Awards event in New York in March 2008

Meera Sharath Chandra, national creative director, Mudra Marketing Services (MMS), has been invited to judge the Art Directors Club Awards.

Sharath Chandra says she’s always happy to be a judge on an international awards panel because she gets to see the best work in the world.

The ADC is considered a premier organisation for integrated media and the first international creative collective of its kind. A self-funding, not for profit membership organisation, the ADC was founded in New York in 1920. It celebrates and inspires creative excellence, connecting creative visual communications professionals from around the world.

Sharath Chandra has been on the One Show jury for the last four years, and she was part of the Clios jury last year. She has recently accepted being on the jury at Chillies 2008 in Sri Lanka. With a 25 year track record in the industry in India as well as overseas, Sharath Chandra’s work has been recognised at award shows such as Cannes, London International Advertising Awards, New York Festivals, Asia-Pacific Ad Fest, Webby and the Rx Club.

The judging for the ADC 87th Annual Awards, Interactive Advertising Jury, will take place from March 11 to March 14.

MMS CEO R Lakshminarayanan says, “The art, science and craft of ideation and creativity are built into the founding principles of Mudra Marketing Services and Meera’s role as the guiding light for this initiative is invaluable. Her in-depth experience across all communication disciplines (including OOH, interactive, direct and activation) and her hands-on leadership have resulted in MMS delivering extraordinary creative solutions to our key clients. As such, I am delighted to see such well-deserved international recognition come her way. Also, such platforms open up our minds to global standards of creative excellence and act as a benchmark and inspiration to our young creative and account management teams.”

For Sharath Chandra, being a jury member is a liberating but hard piece of work. She says, “Jury duty is a humbling experience! When you see some of the work, you often wish you’d looked at the idea that way before. Also, when you’re part of a panel of likeminded people, you automatically raise the bar and arrive at a truly international benchmark. In the interactive space, jury members quickly become good friends in a strong online community, which keeps us all updated on the very latest.”
