Sonu has earlier been part of the Promax jury too
Nirupam Sonu, vice-president, programming, Big 92.7 FM will serve as a jury member for the Radio category at the New York Festivals (NYF).
Besides Sonu, two other Indians are also jury members for this category. These are Rana Barua, executive vice-president and national head, programming and marketing, Radio City and Nitesh Tiwari, executive creative director, Leo Burnett.
Sonu joins some other big names from across the world for the Radio Programming and Promotion Awards of the NYF 2009. Ally Ballingall of Bauer Radio, Scotland, UK; Peter A Musngi of Manila Radio Division, ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation; Paul Baxter of Risk Sound, Port Melbourne, Australia; and Dr Dolkum Kamberi of Radio Free Asia, Washington DC, USA are the other jury members in this category.
In the past, Sonu has been a jury member for The Promax | BDA North America Promotion & Marketing Awards.
To ensure fair play in the selection of work, Sonu will not be authorised to select Indian work at the NYF. Instead, he will be responsible for identifying quality work among entries submitted from the rest of the world.
In identifying quality and innovative work, Sonu will draw on his rich experience of content planning and programming in the radio and television domains. With fellow jury members, he will determine the winners for the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards in the Radio category.
This is the 51st edition of the NYF, which recognises work from over the world in all media – television, cinema, print, outdoor, interactive, design, mixed media, collateral, radio and student advertising.
