Jayshree Sundar quits Lowe; to head Leo Burnett, Delhi

Jayshree Sundar joins Leo Burnett, Delhi, as executive director on January 10

Jayshree Sundar, who quit Lowe as senior associate director (on the executive board) in December, 2002, would be taking up her new assignment tomorrow. She is slated to join Leo Burnett's Delhi office on January 10 as executive director. In a sense, she would be filling in the void left by Rahul Kansal, who quit Burnett (as deputy managing director) in October 2002, to join Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd as brand director, The Times of India.

Speaking to agencyfaqs!, she says, "My long innings with Lowe was brilliant." She adds, "But it was time for me to move on to newer challenges. Not that I am leaving bitterly or angrily; it is a well thought out decision. And I have the good wishes of Lowe with me." She joined the agency on June 2, 1985, right after her MBA from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. And in these 17 years, Sundar has toured all the four branches of Lowe - Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai.

During her long stint at Lowe, Sundar worked across a whole range of categories. "I have handled a multitude of businesses ranging from FMCGs to durables and industrial products, both in the private and in the public sector." Among the brands Sundar has handled are Maruti, Parker, Gillette, ITC, Cadbury and ICI Dulux.

And it is this wealth of experience that she would be taking with her to Leo Burnett. "Leo Burnett is a well-respected agency, creatively focused, with a very strong network worldwide. To be part of a set up like that is a very gratifying and professionally challenging prospect." Sundar's mandate is to make Leo Burnett stronger and ‘a quality player'. "In addition, we have to strive for excellence at the operational level - be it servicing, creative or relationship management."

Sundar is excited about her new odyssey. "It is exciting to be part of a new culture. I have been part of a multinational set up for a long time, and this gives me a chance to reinforce my commitment to the Delhi market." © 2003 agencyfaqs!
