Reliance Communications launches Mobile Radio service

The FM radio service is available in eight different languages

Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Communications has launched a Mobile Radio Service on its handsets through which every Reliance subscriber will be able to catch on the latest hits playing on FM stations.

Reliance's Mobile Radio is available in eight Indian languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarat and Punjab.

The service is aimed at subscribers who do not have FM radio on their handsets. The customers subscribing to this service will have the option of accessing complete songs of one’s choice and will also have the flexibility of skip or replay the songs. The telecom major would soon provide access to regional content similar to various radio stations in the country.

Customers have the option to subscribe to Mobile Radio at Rs 30 per month and then listen to radio at Re 1 per minute by dialing 51234777 or listen to mobile radio at Rs 3 per minute (without subscription) by dialing 51234778. Customers subscribing to this service will have the option of accessing complete songs of one's choice and will also have the flexibility of skip or replay.

Mahesh Prasad, President, Applications, Solutions and Content Group, Reliance Communications said in a statement, “Effectively every phone becomes an ‘FM like’ Radio Phone for those who have missed out on buying an FM enabled phone. Shortly we will be also be providing access to regional content similar to various radio stations that are popular across Indian cities”.
