BigFlicks.com ties up with Raj TV Network for video content

The movie rental and on-demand viewing portal has entered into a deal with Raj TV Network for the regional language content owned by the Tamil network

The Reliance ADAG owned movie rental and download portal, BigFlicks.com, is looking at expanding its library of language content to cater to regional audiences. For this purpose, the portal has joined hands with Raj TV Network, the Tamil media and entertainment major.

BigFlicks also has a video on demand (VOD) division, www.broadband.bigflicks.com, with a library of more than 700 movie titles in 12 Indian languages. BigFlicks already has content partnerships with NDTV, Zoom, STAR TV and 7 Star Care, under which viewers can see these channels free of charge. The business model of the service is based on advertising.

With the Raj TV tie-up, users will be able to view movies, TV shows and music content owned by the Raj TV Network free of charge. The Raj TV Network claims to have movie rights worth Rs 500 crore.

Speaking to agencyfaqs!, Kamal Gianchandani, chief operating officer, BigFlicks, says, “There is a huge untapped demand for Tamil and Telugu language content outside India. The Raj TV Network has a lot of Tamil content – they have a catalogue of films, TV shows and music.”

BigFlicks’ VOD division will soon launch some TV shows from the Raj TV Network for free streaming on the website. The Raj TV Network has properties like Raj TV, a general entertainment channel, Raj Musix, a music channel, and Raj Digital Plus, a Tamil movie channel.

As of now, BigFlicks does not have a subscription based service, but Gianchandani says they plan to launch one soon. According to him, BigFlicks has had more than a million unique visitors on the website till date. BigFlicks, which is a broadband service, is targeted more at NRIs, but it is also available in India. For Indian viewers, it offers its movie rental service.
