Aakar Patel, group editor-in-chief, ‘Mid-Day’, to move to ‘Divya Bhaskar’

Patel is joining ‘Divya Bhaskar’ as group editor-in-chief

Aakar Patel, group editor-in-chief, ‘Mid-Day’, has put in his papers. He is moving to ‘Divya Bhaskar’ as group editor-in-chief.

Confirming this development to agencyfaqs!, Patel says, “I have already put in my papers, but I will take charge of the new assignment after three months.”

A senior source at the Bhaskar Group says, “This shows the company’s aggressiveness with respect to the ‘Divya Bhaskar’ brand.”

Earlier this year, in March, Bharat Kapadia, former editor and associate publisher of the ‘Chitralekha’ Group, joined ‘Divya Bhaskar’ as executive director.

Patel began his professional career in his family owned textile business in Surat. Later, he switched to journalism and joined the ‘Asian Age’ as a trainee sub-editor. Within a year, he was elevated to the post of editor of the newspaper’s Mumbai edition. His next assignment was with the ‘Deccan Chronicle’ in Hyderabad, where he was deputy editor.

His last assignment before he moved to ‘Mid-Day’ was with the British publishing house, Dorling Kindersley (which has since been merged with Penguin), where he was regional director.
