9.9 Mediaworx to launch Inc. magazine in India

The magazine, which will be called Inc. India, will be of special interest to people in the corporate world

9.9 Mediaworx is bringing the New York based magazine, Inc., to India. The magazine will be called Inc. India here and will be of special interest to people in the corporate world. 9.9 Mediaworx is promoted by Pramath Raj Sinha.

The company will launch a four page e-version of Inc. India on February 2, which will act as a taster for the more than 100 page magazine scheduled to be launched in June.

Talking to afaqs!, Pramath Raj Sinha, founder and managing director, 9.9 Mediaworx, says, “Inc. India will largely have local content. Our focus will be on all types of entrepreneurs and not just startups. Also, to make it more relevant to the readers here, we will focus on high growth companies and the potential successors of the companies in India.”

He adds that the company will not look at a large number of copies, but, instead, focus on high quality targeting. The company has applied to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the licence for the magazine.

The Indian version of this special interest magazine will contain reports about mid-sized companies that are growing at a fast pace and indepth stories on people behind successful ventures. Sinha adds, “Basically, there will be three types of stories – how to raise monies, marketing strategies and the real-life experiences of entrepreneurs in the country.”

An editor for the magazine is yet to be decided. According to Sinha, the magazine is looking at a ratio of 70 per cent editorial content to 30 per cent ads. The company is also still working out aspects such as the number of copies in the initial print run and the cover price of the magazine. Though Inc. India will be available on the newsstands, the company is focussing largely on the subscription route.

9.9 Mediaworx plans to roll out other international magazines as well in India in the coming months.

For the record, 9.9 Mediaworx is a media company that has reportedly got investments of Rs 34 crore from Helion Venture Partners and some NRIs. The group has publications such as Digit, an end-user computing magazine; Skoar, a magazine on gaming; The CTO Forum, a fortnightly magazine for the CTO community; Logistics 2.0, a quarterly magazine targeted at chief executive officers and logistic heads of manufacturing companies; and Industry 2.0, a technology management magazine.
