Rahul Thappa joins Mail Today as COO

He replaces Suresh Balakrishna, who is currently serving his notice period at the company.

Mail Today has roped in Rahul Thappa as COO (chief operating officer). Thappa assumed his new role from May 2. He has been brought on to replace Suresh Balakrishna, who is currently serving his notice period.

In his new role, Thappa will report to Ashish Bagga, chief executive officer, India Today Group. A month ago, Mail Today had roped in Manoj Sharma as business head. Sharma will now report to Thappa.

Earlier, Thappa was managing director, Mindshare Malaysia. At Mindshare, he has held various positions. He has worked as business director for entertainment, sports and partnerships at Mindshare Malaysia. Before that, he was planning and buying director, Team Unilever at the organisation.

He has also worked as group media manager, Mudra Communications; earlier, he was group media manager, MPG India. His experience also includes a stint as media consultant at Ogilvy & Mather, and one as group head, account planning, Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay).

Thappa has just completed a post-graduate management programme for senior executives from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Earlier, he has also studied at the National Institute of Information Technology and Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad.
