Emvies 2007: O&M bags the Grand Emvie for Ranga Shankara

This is the same ‘Incident’ campaign, which got the agency a Bronze Lion at Cannes, a week ago

O&M bagged the Grand Emvie for the second consecutive year at Emvies, but this year it was amidst loud drumbeats and even louder cheers. The Grand Emvie came in for the ‘Incident’ campaign for Hutch Ranga Shankara Festival, for which it also bagged a bronze Direct Lion, at Cannes a week ago. The Incident campaign was the single biggest entry in terms of points.

In the overall ranking, O&M came in the third place after Lodestar Universal and MindShare. O&M, in fact also bagged the maximum number of golds (five) , this year. One gold came in for the ‘Incident’ campaign for Hutch Ranga Shankara Festival in the category – Best Media Innovation – Never Before Used Media.

Its work for ‘Kathotsava-Save Stories’ fetched the agency two golds, in different categories – the Best Media Innovation – Events and Best Media Innovation – Ambient Media/Out of Home.

The other two golds came in for its work on Madhya Pradesh Sports and Youth Welfare Department: ‘Grameen Yuva Kendra’ and HSBC Corporate ‘Deferred Live’ campaign.

Following O&M at number four was Madison Media, with 20 points obtained from 2 golds. The agency won a gold for Best Media Innovation – TV for ‘Cadbury Bournvita-Physical Symbol of Confidence’ and the next was won in the category Best Media Innovation – Radio for ‘Godrej Powder Hair dye-Top Ki Baat’.

As far as the special awards go, for the first time ever in the history of the Emvies, there were two awards in the People’s Choice Award (Best Case Study presentation) category, both won by Lodestar Universal for its work on Nerolac Impressions ‘Impressions Jama De’. These two awards were given in the categories Best Media Innovation – TV and Best Media Innovation – Digital.

The Ad Club also presented Dr VL Mote with the Distinctive Recognition Award honouring his impeccable contribution to the field of media. Yahoo! awarded him with the trademark Yahoo! Big Idea Chair.
