Hyundai to launch its own agency in India by early 2006

The new agency will handle the creative duties of all Hyundai brands, while the media duties continue to be with Cheil Communications

The Korean automobile major, Hyundai, is planning to launch its own agency in India. The new agency will be launched by early 2006.

According to industry sources, the new agency will handle the creative duties of all internal portfolios of brands. In addition, it also plans to get some external businesses.

Just a few months back, the Rs 50 crore media duties of Hyundai had moved from Madison Media to Cheil Communications. Cheil will continue to handle this for some time.

Currently, Saatchi & Saatchi handles the creative duties for two brands -- Santro and Getz, while Cheil handles the rest of the businesses.

Hyundai already has an internal agency in South Korea, which is headed by Y.K. Choi. The agency is called Innocean. And it is likely that the agency will be called the same in India.

The Indian agency will also be headed by Choi, but the company is looking forward to hire an Indian advertising professional as the country head.

For the record, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company, South Korea and is the second largest and the fastest growing car manufacturer in India. At present, HMIL markets over 26 variants of passenger cars in six segments. The Santro in the B segment, Getz in the B+ segment, the Accent in the C segment, the Elantra in the D segment, the Sonata in the E segment and the Tucson and Terracan in the SUV segment.
