Mudra's Suresh Amarnani joins MIRC Electronics as head of marketing

Amarnani has been in advertising for around 15 years, the last five of which he spent at Mudra as group business director

Suresh Amarnani, who, till recently, was group business director with Mudra, has moved to the marketing side. He has joined MIRC Electronics as marketing head. MIRC owns the popular Onida brand.

Amarnani’s mandate at MIRC will be to strengthen the brand, which is an ongoing process. He will report to Vivek Sharma, vice-president, sales and marketing, MIRC Electronics.

Sharma comments, “Suresh’s experience in advertising has given him a wide exposure and expertise to handle brands across all categories. His expertise will be crucial to further strengthening the Onida brand.”

In his career span, Amarnani has worked with agencies such as Contract, O&M, Lowe & Partners/Monsoon (Singapore). In between, he also did a short stint with Quadrant. Having spent the last five years at Mudra, he has been associated with many brands, among which he recalls the ad he did for Kinetic Style Silver as one of his favourites. After years of experience in the advertising industry, he realised that it was critical to learn the larger business realities of budgeting, profit, implementation and 360-degree branding ideas, which are beyond advertising.

Commenting on the move from advertising to marketing, he says, “There’s a huge gap between the advertising and the marketing industry, though, ideally, they should be working hand in glove. My shift between the two is essentially part of my quest to learn the realities of the larger business environment offered by marketing.”
