Bombay Ad Club gives students a shot at Cannes Scholarship

The Ad Club will be sponsoring the winner of a contest to an expenses-paid trip to the Cannes Advertising Festival, plus the Cannes Lions BA Scholarship

The Advertising Club Bombay, in association with the Times Group, is offering students an opportunity to earn the prestigious Cannes Lions Academy Diploma by participating in a two-tiered advertising contest, which is to be held in early May. The Ad Club will be sponsoring the winner of the contest to a seven-day, expenses-paid trip to this year's Cannes International Advertising Festival, plus the Cannes Lions BA Scholarship. The scholarship involves a weeklong training programme under ex-Leo Burnett Worldwide creative head, Michael Conrad.

The contest - which is open to final-year students of applied commercial art, fine arts degree courses, commerce (vocational advertising) and marketing management degree courses - entails a written test, which is to be held in Mumbai on May 3. Contestants will then have to create of a theme-based creative ad, which will be assessed by a panel of top ad professionals. Subsequently, shortlisted candidates will be required to participate in a group discussion and appear for an interview on May 10. The winner of this year's Cannes Lions Scholarship will be named on May 12.

According to the Ad Club, while the entry to the contest is free for its student members, non-member final-year students can contest by paying a registration fee of Rs 200. Applications for the contest should be sent to the Bombay Ad Club on or before April 30. For details, the Ad Club can be contacted at adclub@vsnl.com . © 2003 agencyfaqs!
