RK Swamy/BBDO, Kolkata, bags Senco Gold Jewellers’ business

Following a multi-agency pitch, RK Swamy/BBDO, Kolkata, has bagged the Senco Gold Jewellers’ account. The incumbent agency was the Kolkata based advertising agency, Inner Circle.

In 2005-06, the advertising spends on this jewellery brand was around Rs 1 crore. However, executives at Senco Gold Jewellers say that the advertising spend may increase in the next fiscal as they plan to launch a new range of products targeted at working women and teenagers from the upper SEC.

Sankar Sen, CEO, Senco Gold Jewellers, says, “We decided to award the account to RK Swamy/BBDO because it pinpointed the brand needs very well.”

The media duties are currently being handled by JJ Communications (print media) and Melody (electronic media). However, by the end of this fiscal, the company plans to shift its media duties also to RK Swamy/BBDO.

In the current fiscal, the company has spent around 50 per cent of its budget on print and another 40 per cent on television. The remaining 10 per cent was spent on below the line activities. When asked about the company’s plans for the next fiscal, Sen says that they are still working on it.

Senco Gold Jewellers has been a household name in West Bengal since its inception in the 1920s. Currently, the company has nine showrooms across the state, four of them in Kolkata.
