Contract gets JWT’s share of ‘spice’

Contract Advertising has bagged the creative duties for Spice. The account was earlier handled by JWT

Spice has ended its close to seven years relationship with JWT, prompted by the agency’s recent Nokia win. It has appointed Contract Advertising instead. Contract will be responsible for the advertising, above the line and marketing communication requirements of Spice Corp., Spice Telecom and Spice Mobiles.

Vivek Bali, group president, global branding and marketing, Spice, admits that Nokia falling into JWT’s kitty is one reason they decided to call a pitch. Bali explains, “The association with JWT was a long and cherished one. With increasing business requirements and conflicting interests, we decided to look for a new agency. Spice is a fast growing brand and diversifying a lot with innovative products and services. Contract’s strategic inputs, ideation, creative ability, commitment and focus made us pick on the agency as our creative partner.”

Jagdip Bakshi, chief executive officer, Contract Advertising, says, “We are delighted to be working on this dynamic and challenging category and, together with the Spice team, we intend to make this the most happening brand.”

Spice is a business group with diverse interests in telecom, mobile handsets, mobile content and value added services, BPO services, mobiles and accessory retail stores, films and entertainment centres. Spice Telecom operates in two circles currently and is waiting for approval in 20 circles.
