Triple A Awards 2002: The Enterprise strikes back <font size="1" face="Verdana"><b><font color="#FF0033"><u>Triple A Awards!</u></font></b></font>

The agency has made “a great start” and “agency morale is up”, reveals Mohammed Khan of Enterprise, speaking on the agency’s showing at the Triple A Awards

Mohammed Khan, chairman, Enterprise Nexus, can't get rid of the smile that lights up his bearded face. Not that he is in any great hurry to put the accolades his agency was showered with on the evening of Thursday last behind him. Why would he be? Enterprise has, after all, ended up winning a significant share of the awards that were distributed at the eighth Triple A Awards.

Two gold trophies - of the five that were awarded. Two silver trophies. Plus the crowning glory: the lone Grand Prix Silver in the International Jury Award for TV Entries category. Not to forget the eleven bronzes, two in the International Jury Awards category. With 16 fresh awards on the mantelpiece, Khan isn't done with savouring every moment of his agency's triumph. Not just yet.

"We have made a great start, though I admit we still have a long way to go," the veteran adman says, speaking to agencyfaqs!. Remind him about his interview with this web site, where he had remarked that "the good work is again coming out (of Enterprise)" after a poor run in 2001, and he laughs. "It's one thing shooting your mouth off and saying good work is happening in your agency. It's another actually making that work happen. I am happy I have been vindicated." He does, however, draw attention to the fact that it was "a recognition that there was a problem with our work" that allowed the agency to correct itself. "If we hadn't admitted that we had a problem, we would have muddled through 2002, and none of what we have achieved would have been possible," he says.

Undoubtedly, it is the Grand Prix Silver - awarded to the beautifully self-depreciating ‘platform' commercial for Titan watches - that has a special place in Khan's heart. "It is such a lovely commercial," he agrees. "I am very happy it won us the Grand Prix." Khan is also pleased with the two golds… one for the ‘cat-and-dog' press ad for The Economic Times, the other for the Showcase of the Year - Press. "Enterprise has always been great in print, and the ads for The Economic Times and The Times of India are proof of that," he says. "But now we have started breaking into television as well. The Titan ad and the one for NECC, for example. I think it's a good sign."

Bhupal Ramnathkar, executive creative director, Enterprise Nexus, is also a happy man. Though, his joy is tempered by the fact that some of the big creative guns abstained from the Triple A Awards. "I would have liked to compete with some of those agencies as well," he says. Never mind. The opportunity would present itself at the Abby Awards, being held later this week. Ramnathkar, for one, is looking forward to that one. "I think a lot of our work that has won here (at the Triple As) stands a very good chance at the Abbys," he says confidently. "The work we did last year has been of very good standard, and credit must go to the entire agency for everything we won at the Triple As."

The entire agency looked pepped, for sure, cheering itself hoarse every time Enterprise's name was announced. "The agency morale is up," Khan reveals. "No amount of money can buy the high that we experienced on Thursday night."

Cheers to that! © 2003 agencyfaqs!
