Sanjay Thapar, VP, O&M, Delhi to succeed Vibha Desai

Desai's resignation brings her 13-year stint at O&M to an end

Vibha Desai, executive director, O&M, Delhi, has put in her papers. Confirming Desai's departure O&M executive chairman, Piyush Pandey, says, "We are deeply grateful to Vibha for her contribution towards making our Delhi office one of our flagships and for establishing the 360° model. We wish her happiness and success in all walks of life." Desai's resignation brings her 13-year stint at the agency to an end.

Sanjay Thapar, vice-president and head of O&M's Delhi office replaces Desai. Besides assuming full charge of the Delhi office, he would be responsible for other divisions of Ogilvy such as Ogilvy Landscapes (outdoor media business), Ogilvy Outreach (rural communication division), OgilvyLive (ground-level brand communication division) and Ogilvy Signscapes (retail brand identity division).

Desai launched her career in advertising with FCB-Ulka in 1984. After seven years, she moved to O&M. Before she became the manager of the Delhi office in 1995, Desai was the media controller for O&M.

She is currently serving her notice period. Her last day at O&M is on June 30, 2004.

When quizzed about her future plans, Desai responded that she has three options, but is yet to decide. Besides her new place of work, Desai is looking forward to a wonderful vacation. Sipping margarita and sunning on the beach are some of the plans in the vacation agenda.

There have been some significant developments at the Mumbai O&M office as well. Nishi Suri, who was head of O&M Advertising in the city (Sanjay Thapar was her Delhi counterpart till now), has been promoted as the Group Head for all the Mumbai-based businesses. Suri, however, continues to dispense her duties as the city head as well. © 2004 agencyfaqs!
