Amar Ujala AMCL 2012: GroupM marches through Delhi as regional finalist; to face Multi Screen Media in the finals

Playing competitive cricket and showing indomitable determination to win, GroupM defeated competition to emerge as the regional finalist from Delhi. The team will now face Mumbai finalist Multi Screen Media in the tournament final.

The former won the toss and decided to bat first. Arun and Sumeet opened the batting order for Team Draft. However, none of them could stay for long and face the stiff bowling attack. While Arun scored 10 runs (off 12 balls, 2X4), Sumeet was bowled at 3 runs (in 5 balls). Team Draft was seen struggling to face the opponents. Captain Naresh Dutt missed a half-century by a whisker. He scored 47 runs (off 22 balls, 4X4, 3X6). Team Draft wrapped the innings at 103 runs. Adding a few more feathers to his cap, Harkanwar Singh clinched four crucial wickets and gave away 17 runs in three overs.

Due to the humble target, Team Karmatech looked determined to sail through the inning. The side highlighted that an urge to win and the determination to support can see one through a tough match. Harkanwar and Sunny opened the batting and both played well. While the former remained not out and scored 30 runs (off 12 balls, 1X4, 2X6), Sunny scored 73 runs (off 34 balls, 10X4, 4X6). The opening pair didn't leave much to be asked and wrapped the match in eight overs. Team Karmatech won the face-off by six wickets and Harkanwar Singh walked away with the Man of the Match title.

Dentsu versus GroupM (A)

The next match of the day was between Dentsu and GroupM (A). The former won the toss and decided to bat. Opening the attack for Team Dentsu, Abhishek and Ashish looked determined to win the match. However, both the batsmen walked back after scoring a humble 5 runs (off four balls) and 33 runs (in 21 balls, 6X4), respectively. Juned, Praveen and Bharat of Team GroupM cornered a wicket each, but gave away 64 runs collectively. Team Dentsu set the opponents a target of 103 runs.

Team GroupM had a good opportunity to fight for the top slot in Delhi and it did. Though its openers, Mohit and Ubed, didn't shine, it was Praveen and the team captain, Juned, who pushed the limits and made the cut. While Praveen completed a half-century (off 22 balls, 3X4, 1X6), Juned scored 22 runs (in eight balls, 3X4, 1X6). Faizullah, Sanjay and Manu from the opposing side took a wicket each. Team GroupM (A) won the match by four wickets and Praveen was declared the Man of the Match.

GroupM (A) versus Karmatech Mediaworks

Wrapping up the Delhi leg of Amar Ujala AMCL, the regional final was between Team GroupM (A) and Team Karmatech. The latter won the toss and decided to bowl to the opponent. Team GroupM set a decent target of 137 runs, with a loss of seven wickets. The chasing team couldn't meet the target, wrapping up the inning in 129 runs.

Tirthmaan was the highest scorer of Team GroupM (A) and scored 42 runs (off 13 balls, 7X4, 2X6). Supported by Praveen, Juned and Mohit, he helped his team defeat the opponent. Nitin and Amul of Team Karmastech clinched two wickets each, giving away 32 runs and nine runs in three and one over, respectively.

Team Karmatech fought hard. Sunny and Nitin scored 51 runs (off 21, 4X4, 4X6) and 55 runs (in 25 balls, 7X4, 3X6), respectively. Dipanshu of Team GroupM (A) was declared the Man of the Match as it was due to his superlative bowling that his side won the match by a mere seven runs and finally emerged as a contender for the champion of the tournament.
