Partha Rakshit to take over from Farmery as AC Nielsen, South Asia MD

Russel Farmery is moving to neighbouring China as MD of ACN, Greater China

Partha Rakshit, who is the managing director of AC Nielsen, India, will take over as the company's new South Asian head on December 1, 2004.

The elevation comes in the wake of the appointment of incumbent Russell Farmery to the position of managing director of AC Nielsen, Greater China.

Farmery will move to Shanghai from Mumbai, where he is currently based, and will take up his new assignment at the start of next month.

What is unclear is whether there will be a successor to Rakshit, following his elevation as a regional head.

Apart from Rakshit and Farmery, the core team at AC Nielsen comprises executive directors Sarang Panchal and Sujit Das Munshi, who are in charge of custom research and retail research respectively.

AC Nielsen's clients are primarily from the FMCG and consumer durables sectors. It was recently appointed by the National Readership Studies Council (NRSC) to do fieldwork and analysis for the forthcoming rounds of the NRS.
