N P Sathyamurthy quits MRUC; to join Carat in October

As director general of MRUC, he was responsible for syndicated research products such as the Indian Research Survey (IRS), Indian Listenership Track ( ILT)

N P Sathyamurthy, director general of Media Research Users Council (MRUC), has put in his papers. He will be moving to Carat Media Services as Chief Planning Officer in October.

Speaking to agencyfaqs!, Sathyamurthy said, “I wanted to get back to mainline advertising. As the planning head at Carat, I would like to change the insular media planning that currently exists in the industry.”

“Beyond this, I would also try to add value to the different proprietary research that Carat does for its clients,” he added.

When asked about why he was taking such a long time to take up his new assignment, Sathyamurthy said, “I still have quite a few responsibilities at MRUC. Before leaving MRUC, I want to ensure that every thing is in place.”

In an official communiqué, Charles Berley Jenarius, group CEO, Carat Media Services, said, “Sathyamurthy comes in with excellent credentials, having been associated with brands/companies such as Hindustan Lever, Philips, Microsoft, Intel, Nokia, Gillette, American Express, Castrol, Prudential ICICI, HDFC, Asian Paints, Castrol, Vimal, Rasna and Dhara amongst others.”

Sathya, as he is popularly knows as in the industry, has spent five years with Heinz, both in sales and marketing as well as in brand management. The next 10 years saw him delving into media planning with agencies such as Mudra, O&M and Euro RSCG. During the last three years, he was into media research management, as director general of the Media Users Research Council (MRUC).

As director general of MRUC, Sathyamurthy has been responsible for syndicated research products such as the Indian Research Survey (IRS), Indian Listenership Track ( ILT) and the new Consumer Classification System.
