Love-story drama to unfold on Sony’s prime time

Sony Entertainment Television will beam a love story on prime time. The show will be called ‘Kaajjal’ and will go on air in October

Sony Entertainment Television has a whole new line-up of shows for the months to come, ranging from fiction, non-fiction and format shows. The newest addition is a daily show called ‘Kaajjal’, which will air on the prime time 8-10 pm band, Monday to Thursday. The exact time is being worked out as an existing show will be taken off air and ‘Kaajjal’ will replace it.

‘Kaajjal’ is a story about a girl with aspirations, who works for a radio station in Mussoorie. The drama revolves around her life, dreams and love story. The cast has popular names such as Apurva Agnihotri and Rati Agnohotri. Executives at Sony are tight-lipped about who will play the protagonist and say that she is a renowned actor from the small screen.

The channel is planning an October launch for the drama. About the content of the show, Sandiip Sikcand, chief creative director, SET India, says, “It is not a path breaking concept. But what is different about Kaajjal’s storyline is the treatment we have given it. This fairy-tale love story is very mass-oriented.”

The show will be produced by ‘Twenty Twenty’, the television and new media subsidiary of K Sera Sera. The promos of the show will be run on the channel from now on. Apart from that, the marketing plan will be chalked out in a few weeks, an official from the channel said.

Sony Entertainment Channel recently announced the launch of two shows – ‘Jhalak Dikhla Ja’, ‘Big Brother’ and ‘Man Mein Hain Visshwas’. Of these, ‘Man Mein Hai Vishwaas’ is already on air. ‘Jhalak Dikhla Ja’ will go on air this week.
