‘Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki’ on Radio One

Radio One gets into realty programming for home owners and graveyard shift programming for BPO employees

No, we’re not talking about the popular television show on STAR Plus. This ‘Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki’ is a new show on Radio One FM 94.3 and it will focus on the booming housing sector. It is targeted at home owners wanting to improve their homes or looking for a new home. Radio One will offer its listeners a range of information, from real estate options to home and interior décor and even how to seek home loans.

Shariq Patel, V-P, operations, Radio One, says the show is targeted at curious 28-30 year old professionals. “Our idea is to help these young professionals, who do not know where to seek answers, second opinions, expert advice, etc., with regard to real estate,” he says.

What about copyright issues? After all, ‘Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki’ is also the name of an immensely popular television soap. Patel says, “We still haven’t thought about it. But if there is an objection, we will change the name.”

In another interesting initiative, Radio One FM 94.3 has launched a show called ‘BPO Nites’. ‘BPO Nites’ is specifically designed for audiences in the BPO sector, providing entertainment during the night. The show airs from 12 midnight to 5am in the morning and hopes to de-stress the lives of the countless young BPO employees working on the graveyard shift. The show will air the day’s news updates, song requests, discussions, contests and health and fitness tips.

Patel says, “The BPO audience needs a daily update on what has been happening through the day since it rarely follows newspapers or magazines. This show will be a one-stop source of information for them.”

The two shows are currently on air in Delhi and will be aired soon in Mumbai and Bengaluru. Radio One will launch its fourth station in Chennai on January 10, 2007.
