NGC & Volkswagen hunt for life changing ideas; roll out 'Innovations for Everyone'

The contest is aimed to spot radical life changing ideas that have the potential of being converted into real time solutions

National Geographic Channel (NGC) & Volkswagen have launched a new initiative, called Innovations for Everyone. The campaign has been launched to spot and recognise technological and scientific innovations that could help improve the quality of life.

The initiative is open to people of all age groups and aims to encourage life changing ideas that have the potential of being converted into real time solutions.

Keertan Adyanthaya, managing director, Fox International Channel and National Geographic Network India, says, "This initiative will provide an opportunity to budding innovators to put their out of the box ideas to test. It's an effort on the channel's part to stimulate the minds of the viewers and engage with them to spark off fresh ideas in our country."

NGC has rolled out this initiative in association with car manufacturer Volkswagen. Interested participants can send their entries either by post to the NGC office, Gurgaon or register online at www.innovationsforeveryone.com. The last date for registration is October 18.

The entries for the contest will be judged across three categories, including Technology Edge - a project on inventing something new; Re-Engineering Edge - inventing and improving any existing invention; and Environment Edge - a project to save the environment.

The entries for the contest will be judged on parameters such as social impact, economic feasibility, usage of locally available material, ergonomics of design, ease of use and scope for scaling. In fact, to evaluate and assess entries for the contest, NGC has collaborated with Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), the industrial interface of IIT Delhi.

The shortlisted entries will be judged by a panel comprising representatives from FITT, NGC and Volkswagen. The best entries will be selected from each of the three categories of innovation.

The winning projects will result in three short films, which will be aired on NGC. Viewers will get to vote for the best innovation through SMS and the winner will get a Volkwagen car.

Commenting on Volkswagen's association with the initiative, Lutz Kothe, head, marketing, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India, says, "Innovation is cutting edge technology that is available to all our customers from the Polo to the Phaeton. With this initiative, we have made people an integral part of the Volkswagen family. Our innovation for everyone website allows them to interact, share and develop their very own innovative ideas."
