O&M’s K John Jacob joins Thinkpot Productions as chief creative officer

At O&M, Jacob took care of brands such as Lenovo, IBM, Deepam Silks, Titan and Sasken. His mandate at Thinkpot will be to add value to the final script and enhance the visual aspects of each frame by blending and coordinating its varied facets

K John Jacob, creative director, O&M, Bangalore, has joined Thinkpot Productions as chief creative officer. His mandate at the production house will be to add value to the final script and enhance the visual aspects of each frame by blending and coordinating its varied facets. He is expected to add an essential touch of art to the final product by looking after post-production details and the use of advanced graphics.

Jacob has always been interested in filmmaking. Commenting on his switch from creative to filmmaking, Jacob says, “Being in a production house, I will be able to deal with the aspects of both scripting and filming, while in the creative department of an agency, I was dealing with only scripting.”

Popularly known as Jakes among his associates, Jacob has overall experience of 18 years in the field of advertising. He started his career with Contract Advertising and later joined O&M. After this, he moved to McCann-Erickson, where he worked for 14 years on brands such as Levi’s, BPL, TVS, ProFX and Dockers, which earned him both national and international awards. When he quit McCann, he was vice-president, creative. Thereafter, he joined O&M again and took care of brands such as Lenovo, IBM, Deepam Silks, Titan and Sasken.

Jacob feels that after joining Thinkpot, he will be contributing to storytelling by utilising his skills in a multi-dimensional medium. According to him, his experience over the years in the detailing of print advertising will provide him with a broader canvas with respect to filmmaking.

Commenting on his appointment, Manoj Pillai, director, Thinkpot, says, “Jacob brings with him the accurate creative expertise that is needed to provide the natural artistic stroke to the final product.”
