Madison Media, Saatchi & Saatchi, win AOL business

The size of the business is around Rs 10 crore

AOL, a division of Time Warner, has appointed Madison Media as its AOR, while Saatchi & Saatchi will be in charge of the creative duties. The account will be serviced from Bangalore. Time Warner recently announced the launch of www.aol.in, and has aggressive marketing plans for it.

Saatchi & Saatchi has already been doing some project based work for AOL, particularly recruitment related advertising. While there was no formal media pitch called, the creative one saw participation from several agencies, post which Saatchi was selected. The size of the business is around Rs 10 crore.

PG Ponnapa, V-P and general manager, AOL Interactive Media India, says, “We believe Madison is known for its strong commitment to delivery, and we hope that they will help fuel AOL’s plans in India.”

The media mix will include brand building activities through online media, mass media (outdoor and radio initially), followed by below the line activities. The aim is to make AOL a household name in India for resources and information on the Internet, the way it is in the US. AOL is the third largest online ad network in the world.
