Two O&M entries make it to CA Advertising Annual

The pieces of work that have been picked from O&M are the ‘Cancer cures smoking’ ad for the CPAA, and an ad soliciting organ donation for Hope

Two entries from O&M India have been selected to appear in the December 2003 issue of the CA Advertising Annual, the advertising annual published by the 44-year-old Communication Arts magazine, one of the most prestigious international journals on creative visual communication. The pieces of work that have been picked from O&M are the much-awarded ‘Cancer cures smoking' ad for the Cancer Patients Aid Association (created by creative directors Pushpinder Singh and Sagar Mahabaleshwarkar), and an ad soliciting organ donation for Hope (Human Organ Procurement & Education Trust), created by V Sunil, creative director at the agency's Delhi office.

agencyfaqs! loyalists may recall that roughly two weeks ago, this website had reported the news of two entries from Ambience-Publicis making it to the CA Advertising Annual. The Ambience entries are the ads for Western Union Money Transfer and an ad for Vicks Inhaler. The two ads from O&M take India's tally in this year's Annual up to four.

In context to the ‘Cancer' ad getting featured in the Annual, Mahabaleshwarkar says that he feels "honoured", even though the CA Advertising Annual might not be a very well known entity outside the creative community. "It is a hugely respected publication among creative people the world over, and having your ad featured there is a big thing," he says. "Any kind of appreciation for work you have done feels good, but what makes me proud is that this one comes from CA, one of my favourite creative forums." Singh, on the other hand, is kicked about the fact that a copy-driven ad has made it to the Annual. "It is a documented fact that copy-led advertising doesn't get recognized often at CA - or at Cannes, for that matter," he says. "I am pleased that this ad has made a mark at both places." © 2003 agencyfaqs!
