Sujata Pawar joins Lodestar as media controller, L’Oreal

Pawar has returned to the media industry after a four-year sabbatical. Prior to that, she was with Starcom, where she handled Heinz and Bisleri

After taking a four-year sabbatical, Sujata Pawar is back in action. She has joined Lodestar, Mumbai, as media controller, L’Oreal. She will report to vice-president Nandini Dias.

Pawar had taken a break from her career for personal reasons. Prior to her sabbatical, she was with Starcom and MediaCom.

Pawar remarks, “Lodestar is a growing company in the media field, and I personally feel it is second only to MindShare. But the main reason why I joined Lodestar is because the culture here is very similar to the one I was used to at MediaCom. It feels like family. Lodestar believes in growing people and channelling their strengths positively.”

Pawar says she finds the L’Oreal brand, and the cosmetics category as a whole, rather interesting. “L’Oreal is a niche, up-market product and my task is to deliver an integrated media approach to the brand so as to maintain its up-market image.”

Pawar started her career in 1995, in the media department at IB&W. A year later, she joined MediaCom, where she spent close to six years, handling mainly the Marico portfolio, including the Parachute products, Hair & Care, Saffola and Sweekar.

“In fact, I worked on the Marico brands for a long time,” recalls Pawar. “So, I hold these close to my heart, particularly Parachute.” Apart from Marico, she also worked on Kotak, Gujarat Ambuja and Top Ramen while at MediaCom.

She later joined Starcom, where she handled brands such as Bisleri, Heinz and Bajaj Sevashram.
